Queen’s business school spoiled

Last week, Queen’s School of Business received a donation of $2 million from the Bank of Montreal Financial Group.

The donation was awarded by the president of BMO Capital Markets Eric Tripp, who is also a Queen’s alumni.

“The donation was to support Goodes Hall and to expand the school of business,” Lisa Brophy-Gervais, communications co-ordinator for the University, said.  She mentioned the donation will go towards expanding the size of the school of business to include a new wing with breakout rooms for students.

“[The $2 million will add] 75,000 square feet [to the school]. That is the expansion portion,” Brophy-Gervais said.

The new space will also include three high-tech clasrooms, a common area for students and a multi-purpose conference room, according to a press release.

“In 2009, BMO contributed nearly $50 million in Canada, supporting charitable donations, sponsorships and other events,” a press release stated.
