Better than the rest
The fifth Annual Western Award of Excellence nominees have been announced.
Each year, these awards celebrate main campus staff who exemplify Western’s mandate of providing a well-rounded student experience at one of Canada’s leading research-intensive universities.
“Anyone can nominate, including people from the public,” Scott May, campus communications consultant, said.
Nominees represent the diversity of the Western campus, from Barb Haggarty-Hebert, registered nurse with Student Health Services to Lesley Mounteer, associate director in the faculty of engineering.
Notably, many candidates have been with Western for a significant amount of time, including John Brunet, who has been with the department of earth sciences for over 30 years and Krys Chelchowski, who has been with the Student Services Support Group for eight years.
According to May, winners will receive a certificate, cash recognition and a Western item of their choice on Feb. 16 at a Great Hall gala event as a symbol of appreciation from their peers.
