Don’t bash the stache
Yesterday marked the start of the annual Mustache March — a charitable event where men grow moustaches over the course of the month.
“The movement is picking up steam — people are starting to come out of their shells and embrace the moustache,” Pat Duncan, co-organizer of the event, said in a press release. He expected moustache fashion to be fully revitalized in the next few years.
The Sigma Chi fraternity has unofficially hosted the Mustache March for eight years, but this year they are kicking it up a notch by joining with Ivey Cup to make the event bigger and better than ever before.
“In previous years, it was terribly hard to get people on board with ‘stache growing,” Nicholas McDonald, another co-organizer, said. However, according to McDonald, growing a moustache is more popular this year than any other.
Men are asked to sign up and be a part of this “fashionable” event. There is an entrance fee of $5 and all proceeds raised will go directly to the Children’s Health Foundation in London. According to McDonald, the event hopes to raise over $2,000.
There will be a final march held in the University Community Centre on Mar. 31, featuring all of the contestants as well as a final award ceremony. A panel of judges will be waiting to award prizes to the most creative moustaches.
