Faculties prepare for location shuffle

Brescia University College is breaking into the world of blogging.

With the first post on Friday, Feb. 26, Colleen Hanycz, principal of Brescia, has made a commitment to write once a week at minimum until the end of April.

“I look forward to engaging this way with all members of Brescia’s community, including students, alumnae, faculty and staff, and to exchanging ideas with everyone interested in women’s education, leadership, and other topics of the day,” Hanycz said in a press release.

The blog, found at bresciaweeklyleader.com, began as an internal communication back in 2009. The Weekly LEADer has received a positive response since the decision to expand the field of communication to a blog.

“I have been getting some amazing feedback about the fact that we have a weekly communication and also about what good information we have shared so far,” Hanycz said in a press release. “Expanding the audience means more people will have the opportunity to get to know Brescia as Canada’s premier women’s university.”

“And, the blog format means I can receive and respond to feedback, which I expect will be very rewarding,” Hanycz added.

Thus far, the blog features one entry, sharing two initiatives Hanycz believes will demonstrate Brescia’s commitment to providing opportunities for young women who choose leadership.

If the blog remains successful and gains readership, the weekly postings may resume from September to April in the upcoming year.
