Johnny Reid has made a name for himself on the country music scene in the past three years. Reid’s genre-bending blues-inspired musical style has taken Canada, and the world, by storm. After 2007’s Kicking Stones and 2009’s Dance With Me, Reid’s, latest release A Place Called Love, is certainly his best record to date.
This time around, Reid seems to attempt a more personal record. A Place Called Love is full of heart-warming ballads and feel-good tunes.
The integrity and strength of Reid’s song-writing abilities are apparent on every track. Particularly inspiring is Reid’s new single “Today I’m Gonna Try and Change the World.”
“I’ll never turn my back on those of us who need someone,” sings Reid. “I’m gonna try to see myself through another’s eyes.” Other stand out tracks include the intimate “Hands of a Working Man” and the flirty “Love Thing.”
Although Reid may not have been blessed with the vocal capabilities of Johnny Cash or even Keith Urban, his talent as a musician is undeniable
