Construction delays are causing the London Transit Commission’s new garage on Wonderland Road to open three months later than previously expected.
Though the delay will save the LTC $118,000, the commission will also lose some revenue it expected to earn.
“The first buses were scheduled to be dispatched from the new facility commencing Feb. 6, 2011,” read a report commissioned by the LTC. “However, delays have extended the start-up date for the new facility to May 1, 2011.”
The LTC will be delaying the sale of solar panels and the energy they would produce. The solar panels were going to bring in an estimated $90,000 for the LTC.
This means there is only a net savings of $28,000, which means the delay is not expected to impact the cost or funding for the garage, according to the report.
Other ways to save money without cutting services are still being discussed by the LTC.
