Girl tips for guys

March 18, 2011
By

From washing their hair with egg yolks to cucumber slices on their eyes, some girls’ beauty rituals are beyond bizarre, but that doesn’t mean men should dismiss all these techniques. Here are some girl-tested tips every guy should add to their routine — somewhere between eating, sleeping and drinking beer.

Exfoliate

Girls aren’t the only ones who get dry, flaky skin during the winter months. Exfoliation unclogs pores, keeps skin clean and removes the outer layer of skin to reveal the newer layer beneath. Every guy should be using an exfoliating facial scrub two or three times per week, but be careful not to exfoliate too often or too vigourously, as this may irritate the skin. For tough scrubbing action $10, try St. Ives Apricot Scrub — hardly anything girly about that.

Moisturize

Coupled with a foaming cleanser, moisturizing weekly — if not daily — is a sure-fire way to save your skin over time and ensure you turn into the silver fox you aspire to be. Even if you have oily skin, many moisturizers are retrofitted to suit a multitude of skin types, leaving you with no excuse not to lather up. If you’re still reluctant, consider just dabbing some moisturizer around the eyes and forehead, improving the elasticity of the skin and preventing against future laugh lines.

Nail Care

Next time you’re nervously biting your nails watching the Leafs’ game, reach for the nail file instead of the beer. Biting your nails can create ingrown fingernails and aggravate surrounding skin. Filing in one long stroke prevents this, strengthening nails and creating a masculine durability your roommates will envy. They don’t call it a ‘man-icure’ for nothing.
