News Internships
Become a news intern!
An internship is the next step in writing for the paper. Interns can take on bigger stories and learn more about story search, style, research, editing and layout. They can also share more responsibilities with editors and have more opportunities for input in the news section. Any student can apply for an internship.
Internships are also a great way to prepare for an editor position next year!
Responsibilities
Interns choose a day when they can be in the office starting around 9:00 a.m. This is usually a day when you have fewer classes. A story will be reserved for you, so it’s important to be there on your assigned day. Please make arrangements with an editor if you can’t make a particular day.
Internships run from Friday, Jan. 22 to Thursday, April 8.
How to apply
To apply, fill out an internship form or come to the news intern meet-and-greet and information meeting on Friday, Jan. 22 at noon inside the Gazette (Room 263 of the UCC). Refreshments will be served! The meeting will be followed by an optional lunch at the Wave!
