Craig Sandre's family is setting up a fund to assist sophs with mental health and wellness-related expenses.

Sandre was a well respected Social Science soph and member of the campus community who died from suicide in November of 2015.

“Heather and I … know how important it is for sophs to provide support and guidance for fellow students” said Stephen Sandre, Craig's father. “[Craig] did not like to see people being hurt or stressed out … and I think this fund syncs up well with his outlook."

Response to the fund on social media has been substantial with much of the traffic coming from a Facebook group created to honour the Social Science soph.

According to the family, the fund will last 6-8 years. However, funding may be extended even further with additional donations from the community. The family also said they will look at further support for the fund down the line as they evaluate how well it works in supporting its goals.
