With just 10 games left in the regular season, the Mustangs sit one point out of the final playoff spot in the OUA West Division after their loss to York on Friday.

Women's hockey went 1–1 this weekend, with a win against Ryerson and a loss against Toronto to kick off 2017. 

The Mustangs men's hockey team finally bounced back from their losing streak with a 6–3 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday.

Western's women's hockey team suffered an 8–1 loss at the hands of the visiting Windsor Lancers to close out the first half of their season. 

Robert Polesello, Spenser Cobbold, Jonathan Laser and Greg Dodds have all been invited to the 40 person training camp for Team Canada. The team will compete at the Universiade in Kazakhstan in January.

In most professional sports, number of wins and winning percentage dictates where you sit in the standings. But the NHL has adopted a strange system where each team is awarded two points for a win, one for an overtime loss and none for a regulation loss.
