      Oh, right. Sure. Those less advantaged students from working class backgrounds should just get off their butts and get a part-time job. That's what higher education is all about, right? Learning how to juggle advanced/intensive academic study with a job? Exactly. I'll bet those farmers' kids could really use that kind of a lesson, eh?

We have to protect, uphold, and advance institutions of higher learning as bastions of free speech and expression. Let the debate continue -- and the truth will emerge.       I think what Andrew and the 4 other students are doing across our province is really important. They are demonstrating one of the flaws of the OSAP system in a very public way. Too many students are dependent on OSAP, but because of the clawback, can't work to supplement the loan money and are stuck

    Monday, Dec. 14
    The strike is over.
    The offer was accepted by the union today by 72% and included a 13.2% wage increase. Limited bus service is expected to resume in four to five days with full service taking almost three weeks.

    Friday, Dec. 11
    The LTC announces a tentative deal has been reached. The union is expected to ratify the deal on Monday, Dec. 14. Read more

    Monday, Dec. 7
    Union rejected LTC’s  ‘final offer’ of a 9.3% increase to wages, with 85 votes in favour and 322 against accepting the offer.

    Saturday, Dec. 5
    Union confirmed they will vote on LTC’s latest offer on Monday.

    Friday, Dec. 4
    Union receives “final offer” from LTC after mediate talks today. Union officials are not recommending the offer.

    Monday, Nov. 30
    5:40 p.m. — Talks end with no agreement. Mediator still available but no word on when another meeting could take place. Strike will enter day 16 tomorrow.
    11:15 a.m. — Talks entering the second hour indicating there may be movement
    10:00 a.m. — LTC and ATU Local 741 have been in a meeting with a mediator for the first time in almost a month. If the two parties do not arrive on an agreement today, the Union will not go back to the table without an arbitrator.

    Thursday, Nov. 26 — 11:03 a.m.
    LTC and union leaders met for an informal coffee meeting this week. Shortly after, both sides schedule a sit-down with a mediator.

    Fri, Nov. 20 — 12:27 a.m.
    A mediator is ready to sit with the union and management — everyone waiting for management to set a time, reports the London Free Press
    Rumours and misinformation about transportation alternatives circulate around campus

    Thursday, Nov. 19 — 3:31 p.m.
    LTC union denies plans to ever picket at the Gates, saying they would only run information pickets

    Tuesday, Nov. 17 — 3:01 p.m.
    LTC union considers picketing campus. The UWO Faculty Association and the UWO Staff Association President David Empey said they will cross the picket lines.

    LTC announces last-ditch strike talks failed, strike unavoidable

    Saturday, Nov. 14 — 9:44 p.m.
    USC President Emily Rowe sends out email about USC/UWO strike plan; includes carpool and ride sharing

    Thursday, Nov. 12 — 8:00 p.m.
    AM640 reported via Twitter that talks with mayor lasted 90 minutes., were productive on all sides. Talks set to resume Thurs. or Fri.
